We realize that there are parents among our membership who may need occasional reprieve and/or someone to watch the kids while you attend an event or one of our classes.
The Dojo is not safe for young children but that does not eliminate the need for parents who want to attend meetups, classes or events.
Jocelyn Joy and Donna M Snow are working on a project to give parents more opportunity to participate in Dojo events.
We need your feedback.
We will start slow by offering "babysitting" at an off-site location on event nights. There WILL be an hourly babysitting fee but it will be less than market rate for Dojo members. Or maybe we offer xx amount of free babysitting a month for being a member. Details still need to be worked out.
If you are a parent interested in child care/babysitting options please reply in the comments below.
I just had a thought. What would it cost to get a small trailer (this is down the line) and park it somewhere nearby? Lots of afterschool daycare centers use a trailer or portable on the school site.
Current local options:
Cubes & Crayons - ages 0-5 and only from 9am-5pm

I am the Assistant Community Development Director/Economci Development Manager for the city fo Mountain View and always looking for ways to help create linkages and facilitate and encourage entrepenurship and business growth. I read your posting and certainly appreciate the concern and need for childcare. I did want to make sure that you were connected with a new creative approach to childcare just around the corner from Hacker DoJo and is mentioned in your posting Cubes & Crayons. You may wantto contact teh owner and see if there are some opportunities to utilize the existing program or create a new program to accomodate some of the needs of the members of Hacker Do Jo. Following is the contact information for the owner Felicity Chapman(650) 906-0358 felicity@cubesandcrayons.com Thank you Ellis M. Berns

Hi Ellis,
Thank you for your feedback. We will definitely look into ways to work with Cubes & Crayons for our membership base. We appreciate your input!
I don't anticipate we'll have anything much in place until first quarter of 2010 but we are opening up the conversation to gauge the need.
