How the Events System Works

  1. A member submits an event application, either for an event they would like to host or on behalf of a non-member who wants to host an event the member believes would be good for the dojo.  The member should begin recruiting members willing to help run the event.  You should submit events two weeks in advance.
  2. An email goes out to the events@ team.  A member of the events team looks at your proposed event and determines if it is one we would like to host.  Historically, we have approved nearly all events that are legal to hold & not harming anybody.  The events team member also acts as a safeguard to ensure we do not double-book rooms. Be sure to check your hackerdojo.com email address often, since Events Team and others could be sending you mails using this address.
  3. Once the event is approved it will automatically appear on the events calendar.

Responsibilities of a Member Who Would Like to Host an Event

Are listed on the event application but mirrored below for non-members who are helping to run the event. Failure to follow these rules may result in the event no longer being welcome at the dojo and/or suspension of the host's rights to host events.

Please review these rules and commit to them. Also check out these important notes.

  1. For headcount, we are asking how many people you expect, not invite
  2. Once again, you must commit to opening the dojo with a key (if necessary) and being physically present while you run your event.
  3. Make sure your guests agree to behave and abide by the rules of the dojo
  4. Replace anything broken or stolen by your event
  5. If something is wrong or confusing, email events@
  6. Select the right room for your event.  Here are some floorplans, you can also email events@ with questions.
