The official Hacker Dojo IRC channel is #hackerdojo on the Freenode network.

If you are unfamiliar with IRC, Freenode offers a simple IRC web interface, simply enter a nickname and hit connect.

IRC Bot (zeus)

Zeus is a IRC bot that offers some basic channel features including:

  • !seen (See when a user was last in the channel)
  • !weather (Lookup weather for any location. Supports lat./long. coordinates, zip codes, cities, etc.)
  • !forecast (Lookup a weather forecast for any location.)
  • !calc (Uses Google to calculate a particular string.)
  • !google (Performs a simple Google search for any string.)
  • !geoip (Locates an IP using GeoIP technology from Maxmind.)
  • !translate (Translates to/from any two languages. Example: !translate en_de Hello)
  • !stock (Lookup ticker information for a stock symbol.)
  • !define (Lookup definition for any word.)
  • !udefine (Lookup definition for any word using Urban Dictionary)
  • !woot (Displays the current Woot item for sale.)
  • !news (Grabs the most current news headline from Google News. Also supports searching. Example: !news google hackerdojo)

Zeus does not offer:

  • Channel management (ops, voices, etc. as these are managed by ChanServ)
  • Chat logs (for security reasons, Zeus only keeps track of when users join/leave)
  • Anything not mentioned above

Please let me know if there are any features you would like to see in zeus. Zeus is a custom-programmed bot based on the Net_SmartIRC PHP pear library. Zeus is not eggdrop so programming it is very very easy!

Something similar to phenny's tell command [ http://inamidst.com/phenny/modules/tell.py ] would be helpful.

Something similar to jibot's def and herald commands [ http://joiwiki.ito.com/joiwiki/index.cgi?jibot ] would be helpful to build community as well.

Something to associate real names and/or e-mail addresses with nicks if people opt-in to do so...?
